I learned that observation is hard to capture what you see and then transfer it onto paper. I learned some techniques for giving your art work depth. By shading in or making sections of the art work darker than the rest of the piece it gives the art piece a look of depth. I tried to convey a scene of looking underwater in a pond, and to do this I had too use a tricky point of view. I searched for photos online that would help me with this hard perspective on my piece. I learned that observation is a fun form of art and although it is tricky to transfer what you see onto paper, it is interesting and enjoyable. I used the techniques Mrs. Purtee taught us about observational art to create my art work. I took pictures of what I like to do but also of just me being silly. I like to be relaxed and funny and that is what my pictures convey. I used skills like reflection and depth but also having things go off the page and rule of thirds and lighting. I also experimented with reflection and depth in my art pieces. I enjoyed this project and it helped me learn and grow as an artist.
