There where several successes and challenges in my art work as I worked on my mountain landscape piece. One major challenge that I had was portraying distance in my piece. In order to make the mountains seem distant I changed the size of the trees. One major success that I had was creating the reflection of the mountains and trees on the surface of the lake. I used a system of dashes to create a rippled and watery reflection on the lake. I had many success and challenges in my work on this piece.

1. My artistic skills have improved dramatically over the past few weeks after taking this class. I have learned many techniques for shading and making objects look 3D and realistic when I draw them. The cross hatching was especially helpful and I have used that technique on most of my drawings already. I also learned a lot and improved my drawing skills in drawing hallways, as shown in the pictures I've posted, because I have learned key skills and techniques for drawing landscapes and hallways. I have learned many interesting and helpful techniques these past few weeks. 2. I used to think that most ideas were original, but now I relize that all artists must borrow or steal or build up on things that other artists have created. During the artist steal project I learned that by combining two ideas or changing something fundamental about an object you can create a completely different piece of art. My ideas on artists stealing ideas has changed during this unit, I used to think that stealing ideas was bad and a violation of copyright, but now I know that stealing or building on ideas is a key process in making a new, better generation of art. 3. I have had a success in my two-in-one piece and my character remix. I really enjoyed working on those and am very happy with the final outcome and appearance. I used cross hatching very well in both of these works, as well as shading and value. One of the major challenges I have had was making the objects look life like, 3D, and proportional in my art work. Mrs. Purtee has taught me many good techniques and I am slowly getting better and becoming more skilled in these various techniques.
